Sto je muskarac bez brkova? (What's A Man Without A Moustache?)

"Set in the harsh surroundings of the rural Croatian coast, What’s A Man Without A Moustache? is the story of a young widow Tatjana who falls for the local hansom priest, Stipan. The priest is not blind to her love, but being torn between a bankrupt parish and forbidden love, he finds it hard to submit to the uncompromising Tatjana. Parallel to this is the story of a middle-aged widower Marinko, a re-patriot from Germany. He sees in Tatjana a perfect opportunity to conceive a pure Croatian male descendant, after already having a teenage daughter Julia, who can hardly speak any Croatian. To make matters worse, she is secretly seeing a local ecologist Stanislav whose profession is not considered to be manly enough. While unable to escape an environment of prejudice, illusion and Balkan mentality, each character is constantly lingering between tragedy and comedy in search of happiness, which is still to be found.
What’s A Man Without A Moustache? is a romantic comedy which offers a unique and successful look into today's Croatia. Beautifully executed with a very talented cast, this work is a successful piece of independent film making. It is another example of the great work that Croatia has to offer. IZ"
