Singing in the Rain, Just Singing in the Rain…
Everyone loves musicals, right? Or is that more of an American thing? They’re extremely campy, and totally ridiculous, but heart warming at the same time! Who can resist Gene Kelley singing in the rain? Or Maria singing about her favorite things? I got to thinking about musicals because the American classic, “Grease” is coming back into theaters with, wait for it… a sing along version (http://www.moviefone.co.uk/2010/05/25/grease-sing-a-long-schedule-cities...). If you have never heard of “Grease” you can think of it this way; It is the original “High School Musical”, and if you don’t know what that is, you’ve been living under a rock for the past 5 years.
But, now I’m really curious… are Musicals popular in places other than the US? I know they’re huge in Bollywood, but I hear British people enjoy theater productions more than cinema itself. And what about France or Italy? Any thoughts?
Here is a great short musical/music video by Alex de Campi, called “Jilted”, featured on our website: http://raindance.tv/watch/film/puppini-sisters-jilted
