Wild Wednesday
Sitting back and awaiting the beginning of the Ctrl Alt Shift screening, within twenty five minutes I witnessed the crowd shift from about five people lounging and sipping coffee to a countless number that filled the space of the Raindance cafe exchanging the coffee for cider and wine. Luckily for me, I got there early and snagged a seat on one of the three, much sought after, couches—constantly getting longing glances from people on the floor. As I got up to rush off to an interview at the Apollo, before I could even grab my bag, some observant onlookers rushed to the couch.
Complete with screenings, a Q and A session, and a party with live performances, the Ctrl Alt Shift party looked like the place to be on this Wednesday night.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t stay for all of it. I reluctantly approached the doors to head back to the Apollo for an interview—and what an interview it was! Sitting leisurely at the Apollo with ‘They Call It ACID’ director Gordon Mason, I felt as if I was talking to an old friend. Filled with laughs, insight into an era (the 80s) that I missed out on, and more, the interview enticed me to see the film and get to know more about Gordon; too bad for me, the film was sold out. Looks like everyone wanted a glimpse into Gordon’s ‘They Call It ACID’ world.
After the interview, I returned to the Raindance café to catch the end of the Ctrl Alt Shift party. The crowds, music, and high energy remained—it seems to be a constant for the café. Remaining until my hunger got the best of me, I left the party to continue my night at The Green Man pub for a classic fish and chips meal with the other interns. The perfect nightcap!
What will tonight bring me? Only time will tell…
